NO HANDSHAKING, HUGS OR CHESTBUMPS! Maintain at least six feet between others and yourself. It is best not to fist bump or elbow bump either.
Use disposable gloves when touching light switches. elevator buttons, etc. Use a paper towel, or better yet, a Clorox wipe when touching gasoline pumps and the payment buttons.
Open doors with your closed fist or hip – do not grasp the handle with your hand, unless there is no other way to open the door. This is especially important on bathroom doors and in commercial buildings. Carry hand sanitizer spray or wipes with you to use when you touch items before touching your face.
Use disinfectant wipes at the stores when they are available, including wiping the handle and child seat in grocery carts.
Wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds and/or use a greater than 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer whenever you return home from ANY activity that involves locations where other people have been. You may need to wash your hands 10-12 times a day.
Keep a bottle of sanitizer available at each of your home’s entrances and in your car. Use after touching any potentially contaminated objects. If you must fly, wipe down arm rests, tray tables and everything around you with sanitized wipes.
If possible, cough or sneeze into a disposable tissue and discard. Use your elbow only if you have to. The clothing on your elbow will contain infectious virus that can be passed on for up to a week or more!
When walking your dog, do not allow others to pet him/her.
We have learned that the virus is spread in large droplets from sneezing and coughing. Theses droplets will land on various surfaces and main be able to infect you for more than three or four days. Avoid touching your face. You may wish to wear a mask to prevent hand to face contact.
